Correlation of gut microbiota composition with colon adenomatous polyps

چکیده مقاله:
Microbiota is a collection of microorganisms that live in the oral cavity, respiratory tract and intestine of multicellular organisms. Microbiota exerts numerous physiological and pathological effects on the organism in which it resides. Increasing attention has been directed to the host-microbiota interaction, which is highly relevant to the development of carcinogenesis. Changes in the composition of the microbiota along with dysbiosis have provided an unbalanced digestive habitat for the microbiota, which causes the production of abnormal metabolites. Adenomatous polyps are a common symptom of colorectal cancer, the second leading cause of cancer-related deaths worldwide. Understanding the relationship between gut microbiota composition and colon adenomatous polyps may be a non-invasive tool for effective diagnosis as well as reducing health care costs. In this review article, we try to briefly examine the relationship between intestinal microbiota and adenomatous polyps.

Association of Helicobacter pylori Infection With Colon Cancer and Adenomatous Polyps
Background and objective: Helicobacter pylori infection is one of the most common chronic bacterial infections in the world, especially in the developing countries. This bacterium is the cause of many diseases such as lymphoma, gastritis, peptic ulcers, and stomach cancer. According to recent reports, H. pylori infection can potentially increase the risk of colon cancer. The cu...
متن کاملCorrelation of nuclear ploidy with histology in adenomatous polyps of colon.
Histological sections of adenomatous polyps of the colon showing carcinoma were studied by video image analysis. Nuclear DNA content and morphology were measured in regions identified as either dysplasia, carcinoma confined to the mucosa, or carcinoma invading the muscularis mucosa. Where carcinoma was present, areas of dysplasia in the same polyp were found to have similar distributions of nuc...
متن کاملShifts in the Fecal Microbiota Associated with Adenomatous Polyps.
BACKGROUND Adenomatous polyps are the most common precursor to colorectal cancer, the second leading cause of cancer-related death in the United States. We sought to learn more about early events of carcinogenesis by investigating shifts in the gut microbiota of patients with adenomas. METHODS We analyzed 16S rRNA gene sequences from the fecal microbiota of patients with adenomas (n = 233) an...
متن کاملHuman Colon-Derived Soluble Factors Modulate Gut Microbiota Composition
The commensal microbiota modulates immunological and metabolic aspects of the intestinal mucosa contributing to development of human gut diseases including inflammatory bowel disease. The host/microbiota interaction often referred to as a crosstalk, mainly focuses on the effect of the microbiota on the host neglecting effects that the host could elicit on the commensals. Colonic microenvironmen...
متن کاملPloidy studies in adenomatous polyps of the colon.
The nuclei of colonic adenomatous polyps and some colonic carcinomas have a normal diploid profile. The remaining carcinomas are aneuploid, and this change most probably occurs after the dysplasia that determines invasiveness, because even adenomatous polyps with carcinoma in situ are diploid.
متن کاملCorrelation of Gut Microbiota Composition with Resistance to Experimental Autoimmune Encephalomyelitis in Rats
Multiple sclerosis is a chronic inflammatory disease of the central nervous system (CNS). It is widely accepted that autoimmune response against the antigens of the CNS is the essential pathogenic force in the disease. It has recently become increasingly appreciated that activated encephalitogenic cells tend to migrate toward gut associated lymphoid tissues (GALTs) and that interrupted balance ...
